About Spinal Synergy Method™

Gentle, Non-Force Bodywork Rooted in Nervous System Awareness

“The body is interconnected. Meaningful bodywork begins by understanding the whole person, not just the area of discomfort.”

Spinal Synergy Method™ is a holistic bodywork approach developed by Pimjai Lancaster, founder of Spa Born Academy and creator of Spinal Synergy Therapy™ (SST). The method combines gentle, precise touch with an integrated understanding of the nervous system, spine, breathing patterns, muscular tension, body awareness, and personal experiences of energy and relaxation.

Origin & Insight

Looking Beyond the Area of Discomfort

“The place that hurts does not always tell the whole story.”

Throughout years of working in massage therapy, spa treatments, and holistic wellness, Pimjai Lancaster observed a recurring experience among clients. Some returned with familiar patterns of neck and shoulder tension. Others reported temporary physical comfort after massage but continued to experience shallow breathing, stress, or a general feeling of being unable to relax.

“What if bodywork considered not only where discomfort is felt, but also how the body as a whole is responding?”

This question became the guiding principle in the development of Spinal Synergy Therapy™. Rather than relying on stronger pressure or focusing only on one muscle group, the method emphasizes careful observation, gentle contact, client comfort, and awareness of interconnected physical responses.

Spine and Whole-Body Relationships
Holistic Wellness Architecture

Our Whole-Body Framework

Spinal Synergy Method™ brings together six interconnected elements within a single holistic wellness framework.

Nervous System → Spine → Breath → Body → Energy → Integration
Element 1

1. Nervous System

Understanding the Body's Response to Stress

The nervous system plays an important role in how we respond to touch, movement, physical demands, and everyday stress. Sustained stress can influence muscular tension, breathing, sleep, and physical alertness. Rather than forcing relaxation, we prioritize client comfort and an environment that encourages ease.

Our focus: Nervous System Awareness and Gentle, Client-Centred Bodywork.
Element 2

2. Spine

Understanding the Body's Central Structure

The spine connects important regions: the head, rib cage, and pelvis. Posture, movement, and muscular tension influence mobility across these areas. We consider relationships between structural areas without forceful manipulation or high-velocity adjustments.

Our focus: Structural Awareness, Gentle Contact, and Whole-Body Relationships.
Element 3

3. Breath

Recognizing the Connection Between Breathing & Tension

Breathing patterns quickly reflect stress, physical exertion, posture, and emotional state. During sessions, practitioners observe breathing patterns as part of the broader assessment, without imposing rigid patterns.

Our focus: Breath Awareness and Natural Relaxation.
Element 4

4. Body

Working With Muscular Tension & Protective Patterns

Sitting, repetitive movement, and stress contribute to protective tension patterns. SST practitioners use gentle, individualized techniques with careful observation, favoring appropriate contact over forceful pressure.

Our focus: Gentle Bodywork, Touch Precision, and Individual Comfort.
Element 5

5. Energy

Recognizing Subjective Body Experiences

People often describe feelings of being heavy, light, grounded, restless, depleted, or energized. Within SST, energy-related language serves as a personal, non-medical framework for exploring subjective wellness and meditative awareness.

Our focus: Personal Awareness, Mindfulness, and Holistic Wellness Experience.
Element 6

6. Integration

Bringing the Whole Experience Together

Integration is the central philosophy of Spinal Synergy Method™. Rather than treating systems in isolation, we observe how posture, breathing, structure, tension, and awareness weave together in an individualized session.

Our focus: Whole-Body Integration Rather Than Isolated Techniques.

Client Experience

What Happens During a Session?

An SST session begins with a conversation about your needs, preferences, health history, and goals. The practitioner observes posture, breathing, movement, and comfort before beginning gentle, non-force bodywork.

Light contact may be applied around the head, spine, pelvis, or other relevant areas with client consent, monitoring comfort throughout to provide an individualized, respectful experience.
